Here’s to 2020

Goodbye 2019 and here’s to 2020 with so much to look forward to.

Plans to publish three great books. Andrew White’s biography of Herbert Massey, ‘Extremes of Fortune’, Bomber Command veteran George Dunn’s biography ‘Resolute’ and the story of some of those ‘missing’ on the famous 1943 Peenemunde raid.

There has been great progress with the ‘Lancaster’ documentary (acting as a co-producer and consultant). Over 30 interviews with veterans in the can, and plans for air to air filming underway and further location filming with veterans. I’ve had the fortune of being at many of the interviews and also viewing internal ‘trailers’ and I can assure all those interested in the subject that they are in for a treat. Directors Anthony Palmer and David Fairhead are producing something quite special. All this is tempered by the sad fact that some of the veterans we interviewed have since passed – Jo Lancaster, Charles Clarke, and David Fraser. We have lost so many veterans this year. Through projects like ‘Lancaster’ we will remember them. Updates on progress with the documentary can be found via https://www.facebook.com/lancasterdoc/.

‘Their Finest Hour’ is having a second and then a third outing in 2020. This show tells the story of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War through the words and eyes of those who were there. A truly unique and immersive verbatim production, with a cast of 9 actors playing over 100 characters. South Hill Park, Bracknell, hosts the first outing from 20th to 22nd February, in their intimate Studio Theatre. Then in October there will be a tour at other theatres in the south of England. Further details can be found on www.theirfinesthour.info.

Work continues on the play ‘Coup de Grace’, which is an adaptation based upon my book Flightpath to Murder. The play centres on the murder of an Allied pilot and the war crime investigation and trial. (Production is subject to securing funding so fingers crossed.)

And finally I hope to be able to announce shortly the details of another theatrical production. We’ve been working with some top performers and artists lately, developing the piece. This could be quite something – that’s all I can say for now so watch this space.
2020’s shaping up nicely.
