I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Eighth Air Force B-17 pilot Harry Selling. I met Harry about a decade ago when he came to the UK and I had the pleasure of interviewing him about his experiences flying with the Eighth Air Force, and his time as a POW. What a humble and generous man. His story ‘Into Enemy Arms’ appeared in the first book I ever published – ‘Fighting High Volume 1’.
I have managed to dig out the sound only interview I carried out with Harry. Here is an excerpt in which Harry describes the moment they were shot down on 12th September 1944. Please excuse the quality of the sound recording – the recording was only made as an aid to writing Harry’s article.
