Voices of the Air War

Here’s the first of a new series we’re launching through Fighting High Publishing called ‘Voices of the Air War’. Short audio and video snippets from the extensive recordings of Second World War veterans, made whilst researching, writing, or publishing books.

I will be adding other videos every Friday, which can be viewed on the page Voices of the Air War.

It’s almost twenty years since I interviewed John Ellacombe for the book ‘Five of the Few’ (published by Grub Street), but it’s a meeting I’ll never forget. Here John talks about his involvement in a raid directly supporting the Normandy invasion.

This year being the 80th anniversary of the invasion, another example of the crucial impact the RAF had on the course of the campaign.
